The eDG Website is nearing another milestone. In a past meeting, we polled members to learn what improvements could make The eDG more useful. All present expressed interest in having a more interactive site. An April eDG Meeting for has not been planned so that we could move closer to launching an improved eDG site. The new eDG is a PHP portal-driven site with more interactive features.
Beginning April 21, this page, http://edg.utah.gov/portal_forward.html, will forward to the beta release of the interactive eDG site. All content from the old site will be moved over to the new site, and will still be available.

ITS has recently polled State agency developers for their ideas for a more collaborative eDG site that will better serve both web and application developers. The March eDG meeting is postponed in order to bring you a new collaborative eDG.
"We have spent the time normally devoted in content development and eDG presentations," ITS has announced, "in preparation of an open, forum-based set of tools that developers can contribute and fully participate in." The new forums based eDG will be unveiled at the April meeting and the launch date is April 19th.
eDG will meet at the State Office Building, room B110, at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14.

Gilbert Jorgensen from ITS will demonstrate at this month's eDG meeting how to set up a Web page so that it can be automatically reformatted as a printer friendly page. Several agency pages will be used as part of the demonstration.
The eDG meeting provides a venue where State Web Developers can learn about State development standards and new initiatives. This eDG meeting will be Wednesday, Jan 21, 2004, 2 - 4 PM in State Office Building, Rm. B110.
Craig Nielson, GILS Project Manager and Manager of Information Resources for the Utah State Library Division, will talk about Safari Tech Books Online at the upcoming eDG meeting. Safari is a product that makes hundreds of IT-related books from publishers like Que, Sams, O'Reilly, Peachpit, Prentice Hall, Cisco, Adobe, and Addison Wesley completely available online. State employees can access the trial site by calling Craig, (801) 715-6752, for the password. The trial is good through December 13.
Also on the agenda will be a discussion to explore ideas about establishing a governance model with leadership and representation from State agencies. This might include establishing an advisory committee and/or a voting body that would elect presiding officers.
This eDG meeting will take place Wednesday, November 19, at 2:00 p.m. in the State Office Building room B110. There will a second presenter, TBA.
The eDG meeting is held on the third Wednesday of each month at 2:00 and is usually webcasted live. The eDG meeting provides a venue where State Web Developers can learn about State development standards and new initiatives. Developers share their successes and expertise.
